Good training

I haven´t decided yet whether to run Helsinki City Marathon or not, but after the Stockholm marathon my training has been good.

Like last week I ran six workouts, and two of those were done with a good speed. Because I start all my weekday workouts around six am, it is sometimes hard to compare my speed to those workouts done at pm. Tough workout were on wednesday and saturday. I was at my anaerobic threshold, and my kilometre speed was around 3.35 to 3.45.

Ten days ago my long run was 26 kilometres, but two days ago I  ran 34 kilometres to a time of  two hours and 30 minutes. I know the distance so well because I´m using iPod during my workouts, and yes, I have calibrated it. On sunday it was very warm, so after the workout it was so nice to swim in a near lake. Little water running fors and then swimming.

During the past week I have also read a lot. I´m very excited about Stieg Larssons Millenium trilogy. I have read the first two books and at the moment I´m reading the third one.

What else. Jarkko Järvenpää, whom I have coached since 2001, did his PR on 3000 metres last saturday. His time was 8.16,63. Today he is running 1500 meters in Helsinki, and he should do his PR on that distance also.
